5K Run/Walk & Health Education Fair
For many health conditions, African-Americans bear a disproportionate burden of disease, injury, death, and disability. The risk factors and incidence, morbidity, and mortality rates for diseases and injuries often are greater among blacks than whites. Recognizing that community support is instrumental in eliminating these disparities, the Hyattsville/Landover (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. proudly hosts its Annual 5K Run/Walk and Health Education Fair.
This popular event is held during the fall of each year at scenic Lake Artesemia located at 5240 Paint Branch Parkway in College Park, Maryland. Physicians, dentists, physical therapists, nurses, and other local health professionals are available on race day to answer questions and provide information regarding diseases and health conditions that are adversely affecting the community. By promoting a healthy lifestyle and providing educational resources we hope to empower the community to become active participants in the prevention of disease and disability.
